Chongqing—On March 7, the second collective interview at the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Members’ Passage commenced, featuring a series of impactful presentations by dedicated CPPCC National Committee members. 

Among them was Deng Lin, a member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and Deputy Director of the Chongqing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau. Deng took to the stage to shed light on Chongqing’s groundbreaking community service initiatives, sharing enriching experiences and heartfelt stories highlighting the city’s profound commitment to its residents.

Since its establishment in 2018, the CPPCC Members’ Passage has become an annual platform for CPPCC National Committee members from across China to voice their insights and engage in dialogue about pressing issues. This platform remains steadfast in its mission to resonate with the populace, articulating their aspirations and addressing their concerns, where members engage in candid discourse, tackling topical issues and imparting insightful revelations.

Deng commenced her address by delineating the comprehensive construction of Chongqing’s community service framework, highlighting the continuous enhancements that have made services more accessible and tangible to the residents. She recounted examples, such as the life-enhancing impact of a community canteen for the elderly in the Xinghu Road Community of Liangjiang New Area, which facilitated daily living and encouraged active community participation, significantly improving residents’ quality of life.

Moreover, Deng elaborated on specialized service initiatives for vulnerable groups, emphasizing the tailored support provided to individuals with disabilities. These efforts ensure their integration into the community and access to equal social resources, demonstrating that community service extends beyond material assistance to include psychological care and support.

Highlighting the significance of community services, Deng articulated their direct impact on residents’ well-being and contentment, underscoring their role as foundational elements in the edifice of modern social governance. She emphasized that each household’s well-being reflects the nation’s health, showcasing the government’s dedication to its citizens through the meticulous development and enhancement of the community service system.

Through Deng’s presentation, the public gained insights into Chongqing’s proactive approach to community service, showcasing the city’s endeavor to innovate and improve its residents’ lives. This highlighted Chongqing’s achievements in community service and illustrated the CPPCC members’ dedication to their responsibilities and commitment to public welfare.
