Chongqing - Changan Automobile experienced a 54% surge in its independent brand new energy vehicle (NEV) sales, reaching 75,000 units in January and February, as Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area reported recently.

Specifically, in February, DEEPAL, the company's NEV brand, shipped 9,994 vehicles globally, totaling over 27,000 in the first two months. AVATR, the premium NEV brand supported by Changan Automobile, Huawei, and CATL, delivered 2,457 vehicles in February, comprising a two-month total of 9,516, including 3,095 AVATR 11s and 6,421 AVATR 12s.

Furthermore, Changan is strategically introducing new products. March 1 marked the debut of the Changan Hunter, the world's first extended-range electric pickup truck.

Zhu Huarong, Chairman of Changan Automobile, has ambitious goals. With the Hunter's launch, they strive to enhance their global market presence in ASEAN, Australia, New Zealand, Central and South America, the Middle East, and Africa. Zhu targets sales of 500,000 Changan pickups worldwide by 2030, aiming to rank among the top five globally in pickup truck sales.

NEV remains Changan's priority. At the January 2024 Changan Auto Global Partnership Conference, Zhu outlined their strategy: introducing eight new energy models this year with a sales goal of 750,000 units, accelerating the transition of Changan Automobile Group into a smart, low-carbon technology company.

Changan's strategy spans the entire NEV industry chain. In 2023 alone, they've teamed up with giants like Huawei and NIO and formed a joint venture with CATL to spearhead advancements in intelligent systems, battery swapping services, and lithium battery technology, which are critical in the NEV race.

These collaborations have expanded Changan's network, solidifying its position as a significant player in the NEV sector. Last November, a partnership with Huawei formed a new company dedicated to intelligent driving systems for connected vehicles, marking a significant stride in intelligent driving and hardware innovation.
