Putin Wins with 87.3 Pct of Votes after 99.83 Pct Ballots Counted: CEC

Moscow - Russia's incumbent President Vladimir Putin wins with 87.3 percent of votes in the presidential elections after 99.83 percent of ballots were counted, showed the latest data from the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) on Monday.

Communist Party candidate Nikolai Kharitonov is in second place with 4.31 percent. Vladislav Davankov from Russia's New People Party has received 3.83 percent of the votes, and Leonid Slutsky, head of the Liberal Democratic Party, has secured 3.21 percent of the votes, showed the data.

The Russian presidential elections were held for three days from March 15 to 17. Under Russian presidential election regulations, a candidate who receives more than 50 percent of the votes will secure victory.
