Chongqing - The health industry in China is experiencing rapid growth, with expanding market size and an increasing share in the national economy, said Jason Guo, the National Sales Manager of Siberian Wellness in China Region, in an exclusive interview with Bridging News at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Chongqing Investment Promotion on April 2.

“Particularly, the health product sector has emerged as a new driving force behind China’s economic development,” added Guo.

Siberian Wellness, a Russian company specializing in health products, cosmetics, and food, is headquartered in Moscow. Its research and development center is situated in Novosibirsk, the heartland of Siberia.

“Participation in the CIIE serves as a robust platform for promoting our brand in the Chinese market, facilitating tangible win-win collaborations,” stated Guo.

Through this exhibition, Siberian Wellness intends to highlight its natural toothpaste products and niche perfumes in the Chongqing market, which have generated considerable interest and consumer demand.

The company plans to distribute and promote its products through established supermarkets and channels in Chongqing, with the subsequent establishment of dedicated perfume stores.

Guo added that in January of this year, Siberian Wellness participated in the China (Chongqing) Russia Economic and Trade Negotiation and Product Exhibition held at the Chongqing Lianglu Guoyuan Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone in the Liangjiang New Area.

“We observed the enthusiasm and purchasing power of Chongqing consumers towards Russian products, indicating promising market prospects,” said Guo.

Chongqing’s health sector shows promising momentum

Over the last twenty years, the consumption of health products in China has surged between 15% and 30%, greatly outpacing the 13% growth rate in developed countries. Rapid economic development and improving living standards have made health a central concern.

Due to severe pollution from industrial and agricultural activities, human demand for nutritional supplements and green food has noticeably shifted.

Meanwhile, the health industry in Chongqing and the southwest region has exhibited promising momentum and remarkable achievements, continuously propelling the nationwide development of the health sector.

“The recently held 2024 International Health Industry (Chongqing) Expo serves as a testament to this,” noted Guo. “This demonstrates Chongqing’s determination and role in promoting the development of the health industry.”

The 2024 International Health Industry (Chongqing) Expo showcased a professional exhibition area exceeding 30,000 square meters, encompassing over 500 medical service institutions, specialized health insurance financial institutions, technology innovation firms, over 1,500 industrial enterprises associated with major health brands, and more than 3,000 pharmaceutical distribution, chain, and terminal enterprises, thus spanning the entire ecological chain of the health industry.
