Chongqing Bolsters Ties with Cordoba, Argentina | Sister Cities

By YAN DENG|Apr 07,2024

Chongqing - In recent years, Chongqing has seized the opportunity to accelerate building the city into a Hub for International Exchanges in Central and Western China, continuously integrating and expanding foreign affairs resources.

The city has increased efforts to invite foreign entities and expand its presence globally. As a result, Chongqing's international network has grown, fostering broader exchanges with sister cities, solidifying partnerships, and paving the way for a wider path of friendship.

Chongqing's bond with Cordoba, a province in central Argentina, is a testament to the city's commitment to international collaboration. Since signing the friendship city-province agreement between the two regions on May 18, 2010, Chongqing and Cordoba have embarked on a journey of mutual growth and cooperation, transcending geographical boundaries.

Cordoba, known as Argentina's economic powerhouse, boasts abundant natural resources, a thriving agricultural sector, and a rich cultural heritage. The province is a vital hub for central Argentina trade, commerce, and cultural exchanges.

The exchange between Chongqing and Cordoba has flourished across various domains, including economics, culture, education, and sports.

High-level delegations from both sides have engaged in productive dialogues, fostering a deeper understanding and collaboration between the two regions. Leadership from Chongqing has made several visits to Cordoba. At the same time, delegations from Cordoba, including the Speaker of the Provincial Parliament, Vice Governors, and Secretary of Provincial Regional Integration and International Relations, have reciprocated by visiting Chongqing.

Furthermore, Cordoba's participation in key events in Chongqing, such as the 2016 China International Friendship Cities Conference and the 2019 Smart China Expo, underscores the commitment of both regions to strengthen their partnership.
