Chongqing—A year after its launch, Chongqing's Digital Chongqing initiative is propelling the city to become a digital hub. Recently, it unveiled the country's first municipal integrated intelligent public data platform, laying the groundwork for digital transformation.
The integrated intelligent public data platform is supported by a three-level urban operation and governance center and six key application systems for the digital economy, society, and culture. This setup promotes seamless digital collaboration across the city, districts, counties, and grassroots levels.
Prioritizing digital industrialization and industry digitization is key. This involves real-time production data displays and intelligent production lines to boost efficiency and performance management.
Chongqing Jinqiao Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. showcases this shift with intelligent upgrades that raise production efficiency by 40% and cut costs by nearly 20%.
While at the Seres smart factory in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, with intelligent production line upgrades, thousands of robots work around the clock. Auto parts are stamped in five seconds, and a new car is produced every two minutes.
"This leap in productivity is attributed to integrating AI, IoT, and cloud computing technologies, enhancing the automation of key manufacturing processes," said the head of Seres Group Co., Ltd.
These successes highlight Chongqing's leadership in national digital economy innovation. Over 20,000 digital economy enterprises drive 45% of the regional GDP.
In addition to fostering intelligent manufacturing, Chongqing ramped up the development of its digital infrastructure, including advancements in 5G, data centers, and IoT technologies.
Shuitu New City in Liangjiang New District is now a leading cloud computing hub in Western China, boasting 80,000 racks and 400,000 servers thanks to the introduction of the China Mobile (Chongqing) Data Center.
Dai Xiaohong, Director of Chongqing Big Data Application Development Management Bureau, highlighted ongoing efforts to synergize 5G and gigabit networks. They are also expanding the use of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) International Data Channel, the country's first point-to-point data link with another nation.
Chongqing is also engaged in the "East Data, West Computing" project and aims to foster collaboration among businesses throughout the industry chain on digital transformation projects. The ultimate goal is to spur the growth of a high-quality digital economy and establish a solid foundation for digital economic development citywide.
