Chongqing - The Chongqing Renewable Energy Society welcomed a Thailand energy social organization for a six-day exchange staring on April 8, fostering collaboration between Chinese and Thai entities, as well as new energy experts and entrepreneurs.

The schedule comprises visits to diverse sites, offering a window into Chongqing's progress in new energy, photovoltaics, and rural development, granting Thai experts fresh perspectives on its eco-friendly initiatives.

Bridging News interviewed three participants to gather their insights post-trip. The conversations centered on Chongqing's sustainable practices and possible future partnerships.

Leo Horn-Phathanothai, Founder of the Asian Just Transitions Missions Hub, commended China's leadership in green and low-carbon technologies and noted the global need for decarbonization to achieve climate goals. His primary goal in visiting Chongqing was to comprehend China's technological prowess and identify collaboration opportunities. These collaborations aimed to facilitate the transfer of Chinese technologies to Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on Thailand.

Horn-Phathanothai highlighted that China's technologies are advanced and competitively priced, making them ideal for expansion into markets such as Thailand. He expressed optimism about future collaborations, particularly in terms of technology transfer.

Tanat Sangarasri, Executive Director of Sustainable Bioenergy Co., Ltd., another Thai entrepreneur, was impressed by a Chinese company's comprehensive expertise in clean energy. He believed that numerous practices already implemented in Chongqing, including their technology and methods for conserving energy and the environment, could be adapted for use in Thailand.

Benjamas Chotthong, program director of Thailand Environment Institute Foundation, expressed hope for future collaborations between China and Thailand, particularly at the city-to-city level. She suggested that the organizer could plan more such trips to allow Thai and Chinese participants to learn from each other and share experiences.
