Electromagnetic Technology Integration Enhances Active Safety in ICVs

By YUTING CHEN|Apr 24,2024

Chongqing - In our modern era of digital, networked, and intelligent technologies, the security and reliability of information systems are essential across all sectors. The advancement and application of electromagnetic technology offer numerous possibilities and solutions.

The 2024 Conference on Advanced Technologies and Applications of Information System Electromagnetic Cross-Interference was recently held in the Western (Chongqing) Science City Chongqing High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.

More than 200 experts, scholars, and representatives from associations, organizations, and enterprises attended the conference, jointly exploring the convergence of electromagnetic technology and future industries.

Academician Yin Hao from the Chinese Academy of Sciences emphasized that electromagnetic technology in information technology spans multiple areas, including 5G/6G, satellite communications, integrated air-space-ground networking, radar, and remote sensing.

This technology is essential for acquiring spatial information, navigation, and situational awareness. It enables innovative services in intelligent transportation and strategic resource management and can be applied even in the metaverse.

Yin said, "We hope to strengthen the collaborative innovation between information systems and electromagnetic technology, continuously tackle relevant basic theories and key technologies, and promote technological progress and application."

In the Western (Chongqing) Science City, Academician Li Keqiang's team, along with research institutes such as the Western China Science City Innovation Center of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles (WICV) and CITIC Technology Zhilian Technology, has conducted innovative research based on electromagnetic technology.

This has drawn over 40 enterprises from the smart connected new energy vehicle industry, covering complete vehicles, key components, charging infrastructure, and intelligent connected vehicle demonstration operations, forming an initial full-industry chain ecosystem.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are a prime example. Incorporating them into intelligent connected vehicles enhances vehicle active safety performance.

With growing electromagnetic challenges and enterprise demand for ADAS electromagnetic compatibility evaluation, China Merchants Testing Vehicle Technology Research Institute relies on its research platform, the "Chongqing Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineering Technology Research Center," for self-developed projects.

Using semi-anechoic chambers, they have formulated electromagnetic radiation anti-interference test standards for whole vehicle-level ADAS systems. This enhances electromagnetic compatibility testing lab standards, broadens automotive electromagnetic compatibility service capacities, and ensures ADAS operates reliably and safely.

In the future, Western (Chongqing) Science City will prioritize the high-quality development of key industries, such as intelligent connected new energy vehicles, software information, and integrated circuits. It will also vigorously cultivate new productive forces, strengthen emerging industries, and focus on forward-looking layouts for the future.
