During the 2024 Taiwan Enterprises Western Journey symposium, the Deputy Mayor of Chongqing, Zhang Guozhi, emphasized Chongqing's commitment to fostering economic and trade exchanges with Taiwan. She highlighted the flourishing cluster of the electronic information industry dominated by Taiwan companies such as Quanta Group, Inventec Corporation, Wistron Corporation, Xu Pegatron Technology (Chongqing) Co Ltd, and Compal Electronics.

Over the past five years, Chongqing has seen the addition of 360 Taiwan-invested enterprises, with a cumulative approval of 2,162 such enterprises and a contracted investment of USD 32.344 billion.

Taiwan is Chongqing's fourth-largest trading partner, with the total import and export volume reaching 64.69 billion yuan (USD 8.93 billion) in 2021.

"I am a participant, witness, and contributor to Chongqing's development," said Li Wenxun, Executive Vice Chairman of the National Association of Taiwan Businessmen and Chairman of Chongqing Paichi Group, reminiscing about his first visit to Chongqing in 1989. Despite the city being relatively underdeveloped then, Li recognized the abundant business opportunities amidst the bustling crowds.

Encouraging Taiwan entrepreneurs to seize the moment, Li urged for enhanced communication and collaboration across industries such as electronic information, automobile manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing, biotechnology, and agricultural products.

Qiu aims to attract more Taiwan youths to the Chinese mainland through short video production, thereby fostering closer ties between compatriots on both sides of the strait.

"I hope this event will attract more Taiwan enterprises to develop on the Chinese mainland and thrive in Chongqing," said Liu Jiannan, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government.
