Chongqing - Chongqing is revolutionizing electric vehicle charging with a groundbreaking solution that exceeds the efficiency of current fast charging methods. This comprehensive charging solution promises to reshape the landscape of electric vehicle infrastructure, offering drivers unprecedented convenience and reliability.

On April 23, the Chongqing Real Estate Group unveiled plans for a pioneering green energy and low-carbon center in Chongqing. This center aims to create a green, intelligent, low-carbon service complex for new energy vehicles (NEVs).

Key features include a 480 kW supercharging photovoltaic system, energy storage facilities, intelligent parking solutions, and bidirectional charging capabilities. The project is in its initial stages and is expected to become operational this year. 

The supercharging station includes advanced technologies, such as a single-gun supercharging unit with a power output of at least 480 kilowatts, along with multiple single-gun fast charging units with a power output of at least 180 kilowatts.

The city is rapidly expanding its network of supercharging stations to establish a top-tier, conveniently accessible supercharging city.

A pioneering example is the supercharging station in Nanan District, which can accommodate simultaneous charging for up to 28 NEVs, significantly reducing charging times compared to traditional methods. "The battery went from 20% to 90% in less than 20 minutes, and it used to take over an hour," said an electric vehicle owner.

This intelligent supercharging demonstration station represents a significant milestone for the city. It integrates supercharging, battery swapping, photovoltaics, energy storage, and car displays into a single facility. With three liquid-cooled supercharging bays, NEVs can gain 300 kilometers of range with just a 5-minute charge.

Moreover, the station boasts two rows of charging piles, each equipped with photovoltaic canopies capable of storing up to 200 kilowatt-hours per hour. This innovative approach generates electricity and enables the storage and charging of renewable energy.

Investors are rapidly setting up supercharging stations in Chongqing to meet strong market demand. For instance, GAC Group is building a center in Jiangbeizui for rapid charging and battery swapping to extend the range of electric vehicles.

Not long ago, Chongqing outlined ambitious plans to accelerate the construction of charging infrastructure. It aims to establish 1,340 supercharging stations in the central urban area by 2025 and achieve full coverage of supercharging infrastructure in critical districts and highway service areas.
