Train Loaded with Chemicals Departs Fuling Longtou Port for Global Destinations

Chongqing—On April 28, a train carrying adipic acid and polyester slices departed from Chongqing Fuling Longtou Port and headed to Qinzhou Port Station in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The cargo was bound for 11 countries, including Singapore, Italy, and Mexico.

This departure marks the beginning of operations for the Fuling Longtou Port railway special line via the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC).

Strategically positioned at the confluence of the Yangtze River and Wujiang River, Fuling Longtou Port stands as a key component of Chongqing's integration into the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

The Longtou Port railway special line has seamless integrated rail and water transport. "Situated at the westernmost point of the upper Yangtze River, Longtou Port can accommodate ships and fleets up to 10,000 tons level throughout the year," said an official from the Fuling District.

As of April 27, the special line had managed a flow of goods- totaling over 50,065 tons from 807 carloads dispatched and 36,664 tons from 579 carloads received.

Lin Zheng, logistics manager at Chongqing Wankai New Material Technology Co., Ltd., stated that the service has significantly reduced transit times and transportation costs.

The 95306 App, created by China Railway Network Business Co., Ltd., improves logistics management by providing real-time tracking of shipments. This helps firms like Lin's manage their logistics operations more effectively.

The China Railway Chengdu Bureau Group Co., Ltd. and the Chongqing Railway Logistics Center have strengthened their partnership to optimize loading, unloading, scheduling, and transportation. This collaboration is part of a broader strategy to enhance customer support through price reductions and efficient container allocation.

Longtou Port's operational setup comprises three functional areas: the departure yard, integrated cargo yard, and rail-water intermodal cargo yard. These areas facilitate the exchange of commodities like iron, steel, construction materials, phosphate rock, and containers. Serving primarily Chongqing, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Northwest China, the special line currently handles 10.25 million tons of cargo annually, with plans to expand capacity to 20 million tons.

A major infrastructural improvement at Longtou Port is the recent addition of a gantry crane, which enhances site utilization and operating range. This crane significantly increases the efficiency of container operations and supports all-weather, multimodal transportation.

Reflecting on the first quarter's performance, the ILSTC oversaw the transportation of 50,000 TEUs, up 39%, with a total value of approximately 9.2 billion yuan (USD 1.3 billion), a 54% increase from the previous period. The corridor's rail-sea intermodal liner specifically handled 44,450 TEUs, a 42.66% year-on-year increase, with goods valued at 6.99 billion yuan, an 81.78% increase.
