Industrial Robot Operations in Global Competitions to Boost Digital Capabilities

By ZHAN CHEN|May 16,2024

Chongqing - The integration of industrial robot system operation into international competitions is poised to enhance global digital capabilities, remarked Qiu Qing, vice president of Chongqing Mechanical Technician College, during an interview with Bridging News recently.

The industrial robot system operation will debut at the Second Belt and Road International Skills Competition in June, highlighting system performance and practical problem-solving skills. This inclusion marks a significant step towards global collaboration in digital skills.

Qiu believes the Second Belt and Road International Skills Competition in Chongqing will foster new vocational partnerships, set industrial robot system operation standards, and advance intelligent equipment technologies.

Chongqing is expanding partnerships with vocational schools and tech manufacturers domestically and internationally, using industrial robot operation as a cornerstone. Qiu highlighted collaborations with top firms like Germany's DMG, Siemens, and Sweden's Hexagon, involving expert guidance, equipment procurement, and training.

Additionally, Chongqing Mechanical Technician College and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Singapore plan to jointly develop an industrial robot program in Chongqing, further enhancing international educational exchanges.

Collaborative efforts between academia and the industry are crucial in developing a robust talent pipeline. Qiu's team has pioneered industrial robot education in China, producing the first textbooks and establishing a master studio for industrial robot system operation.

This May, Zhu Yisong, leader of the master studio, will represent China at international forums in Moscow. He will showcase China's digital expertise to Belt and Road nations and explore new opportunities for digital skills training.

Driven by a growing demand for skilled professionals, China's digital industry surge has positioned it as a leader in industrial robotics. Chinese competitors excel in industrial robot system integration and operation, showcasing significant achievements in national vocational skills competitions.
