The designers of well-known bridges such as the Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge, Shibanpo Yangtze River Double-line Bridge, Dongshuimen Bridge, and Qian Si Men Bridge all share a common name: Deng Wenzhong.

Deng Wenzhong, born on February 21, 1938, in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, holds American citizenship. He is a bridge engineering expert, a member of the National Academy of Engineering in the United States, a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a foreign member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and chairman and chief engineer of T.Y. Lin International. He also serves as a professor at Columbia University in the United States.
