Chongqing - Evidence shows that Chongqing began easing restrictions for Tesla vehicles as Global Vice President Grace Tao sent her regards to the 6th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) in Chongqing.

Tesla cars were previously restricted from certain government and state-owned facilities in China, but this is changing. Some state-owned companies are lifting the bans on Tesla's entrance in Chongqing. Since various government agencies and state-owned enterprises primarily impose these restrictions, it isn't easy to accurately describe the extent of Tesla's access across the city.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China listed 76 intelligent connected vehicle models on April 29, including Tesla, that meet China's auto data security requirements, meaning that Tesla is the only foreign EV maker so far to have passed the test.

According to China Daily, passing such an inspection means that Tesla's data security performance has been recognized by the authorities, helping the company move a step closer to the full removal of restrictions in areas with data protection in China, industry experts said. 

Tao said, Tesla comprehensively lays out sustainable energy and artificial intelligence technologies, driving the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry.

As the sole municipality in western China, Chongqing welcomed its first Tesla store in 2018. Now, Tesla has 15 stores and a delivery center in Chongqing. Tao noted that the service range in Chongqing will keep expanding.  

Along with the growth of its stores, Tesla's charging network is expanding. According to Tesla China PR, 54 Supercharger stations have been built in Chongqing. Tesla has also constructed 11 destination charging stations, including some in Chongqing’s 5A-level scenic spots.
