Chongqing - During the 6th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) recenlty held in Chongqing, Chongqing and Singapore aimed to deepen their bilateral cooperation as design capitals.
Several Singaporean design firms attended the fair, including STUCK, represented by design director Winston Chai. Chai emphasized his firm's commitment to user-centric design and its unique position through extensive user research across Asia.
"We are able to deliver strategic value specifically tailored for the Asian market, including market entry strategies, brand development, communication, and distribution," Chai said, outlining the potential for future collaborations with Chongqing.
Chee Su Eing, president of the Design Business Chamber Singapore (DBCS), lauded Chongqing's industrial design and manufacturing strengths, pointing out its advantages compared to Singapore's limited resources and space.
She was hopeful that Singapore's industrial sector could harness Chongqing's established design and innovation capabilities to achieve global expansion.
Luo Li, deputy director of the Chongqing Economic and Information Commission, discussed initiatives to strengthen the partnership between Chongqing and Singapore.
Luo underscored the event's focus on fostering more productive services, particularly international design exchange, regional design collaboration, and industrial design empowerment.
"Through the China-Singapore design co-creation plan and various collaborative projects, we aim to enhance Chongqing's presence in the international design community," Luo said, emphasizing the fair's role in promoting international design exchange, regional collaboration and the empowerment of industrial design.
