Chongqing Assists Pingjiang, Hunan in Flood Rescue Efforts | Pic Story

Chongqing - In response to severe flooding in Pingjiang County, central China’s Hunan Province, Chongqing dispatched three emergency rescue teams to assist in flood relief efforts. 

On July 2, after torrential rains caused significant flooding in Pingjiang County, the professional emergency rescue team from Chongqing was promptly deployed. They embarked on an overnight journey to Pingjiang to undertake flood relief operations. Concurrently, two other emergency teams from Chongqing also mobilized to the frontline of the flood response. The three teams dispatched 84 personnel, 26 vehicles, and over 600 pieces of rescue equipment.

Over three continuous days of operations in Pingjiang, three teams successfully completed drainage tasks at 13 sites, removing a total of 424,000 cubic meters of floodwater and clearing 7,200 square meters of mud from the streets. They rescued and relocated six trapped residents and repaired a 100-square-meter mobile machine room, ensuring the functionality of equipment worth 5 million yuan and communications for approximately 50,000 users. These efforts helped normalize life for the residents of Pingjiang County.

Upon completing their initial tasks on July 6, three teams from Chongqing swiftly moved to another two flood-affected places to perform urgent drainage operations. The rescue personnel maintained round-the-clock vigilance and closely monitored equipment to ensure safe and effective rescue operations.

As of 6 a.m. on July 8, the Chongqing teams had drained 504,000 cubic meters of water at the Jiufeng Reservoir and 292,000 cubic meters at the Luojiang Town. The flood relief operations continue in an orderly manner.
