Chongqing - Chongqing, known for its unique "8D Magic" and famous attractions like the monorail through buildings and spicy hotpot, has become a hot destination for international tourists. This city has attracted significant attention as "China Travel" has become a trending topic worldwide.

Data from multiple travel platforms indicates that Chongqing is rapidly becoming a favored entry point for foreign tourists. In the first half of this year, flight bookings to Chongqing increased by 1.8 times compared to the same period last year. In response to the surge in international visitors, Chongqing has implemented several measures to ensure a seamless travel experience, welcoming visitors with open arms and efficient services.

Zero-delay customs clearance

As more countries join China's visa-exemption list and international flights resume, Chongqing's inbound tourism market continues to thrive. Currently, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport connects to 23 countries and regions with 28 international routes, witnessing a steady rise in inbound travelers.

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport Customs has embraced technological advancements by deploying over 50 smart inspection devices to enhance customs clearance efficiency. Combined with flexible staffing and optimized inspection channels, these innovations provide "zero-delay" customs services for incoming passengers.

"This trip to Chongqing was packed with plans, and the smooth customs process saved us a lot of time," said Tracy, a tourist from Australia, upon arrival.

In the first half of this year, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport Customs managed 385,300 inbound passengers, a 176.61% increase compared to the previous year, significantly improving customs clearance efficiency.

Enhancing entry and exit convenience

To support optimized visa policies and facilitate international exchange, Chongqing has continuously improved the management of foreign tourist group itineraries. The city has adjusted policies to allow more flexibility in entry and exit points for foreign tour groups, shifting from "enter and exit via Chongqing" to "enter or exit via Chongqing." Additionally, Chongqing has established a collaborative visa mechanism with Sichuan Province, enabling mutual recognition of credentials and streamlined visa processes at border checkpoints.

According to local authorities, Chongqing inspected over 150,000 foreign arrivals and departures in the first half of this year, nearly five times the number from the same period last year.

Convenient transportation with international payment options

The success of "China Travel" owes much to policies like the 144-hour visa-free transit, and Chongqing, known for its traveler-friendly initiatives, has further eased the travel experience. The Chongqing Rail Transit has piloted the installation of UnionPay POS machines at 58 stations, including Xiaoshizi, Jiaochangkou, Liziba, Shapingba, and Chongqing West Railway Station. This allows international travelers to purchase tickets and recharge their transit cards using foreign bank cards without the need to exchange currency.

The UnionPay POS machines accept UnionPay, Visa, MasterCard, JCB, and American Express cards, making it convenient for international visitors to use Chongqing's transit system. Additionally, travelers can use the "Yuchangxing" App, WeChat, Alipay, and UnionPay QuickPass to purchase tickets and recharge their cards.

Chongqing's commitment to providing convenient and thoughtful services to international tourists underscores its growing appeal as a must-visit destination in China. These services ensure that visitors can explore the city's wonders with ease and comfort.
