This year's festival focuses on "integration," blending nightlife with consumer goods transactions. From July 22 to 28, prominent brands like Seres, Chery Automobile, and Haier will be featured on Guanyinqiao's nightlife street. This location will be the epicenter for a week-long celebration, showcasing the innovative fusion of the automotive, appliance, and lifestyle sectors into the night economy.

To boost the appeal of Chongqing's nightlife, the festival will enlist local celebrities and influencers as Star Promoters and Experiencers to showcase and promote the city's vibrant nightlife.

A specially designed Chongqing nightlife paper map will guide visitors through routes connecting commercial complexes and distinctive neighborhoods, highlighting unique nighttime shopping spots.

Meixin Wine Town in Fuling District is preparing for a grand three-day celebration from July 19 to 21. The event will feature free beer, a bustling night market, live music, specialty food stalls, a fireworks display, and many giveaways. "We're inviting everyone to join us for three nights of summer fun," said a spokesperson from Meixin Wine Town. "Our goal is to light up the night with cultural and tourism activities, ensuring they are as exciting as they are enjoyable."

The festival's scope extends beyond mere shopping and entertainment. The 2024 Chongqing Nightlife Music Festival will include roadside concerts and a series of night running events, adding a dynamic new layer to the city's after-dark activities. In collaboration with Ele.me and Freshippo, the festival will also distribute up to 30 million yuan (about USD 4.1 million) in consumption vouchers and red envelope subsidies, ensuring attendees have ample incentive to explore and enjoy.

Li Ziming, the general manager of Alipay's regional center, emphasized the company's continued dedication to supporting Chongqing's growth as an international consumption hub.

Alipay, one of the largest mobile payment platforms in the world, plans to invest over 20 million yuan in consumption subsidies during the festival. "Since our strategic partnership with Chongqing, we've focused on facilitating payments for foreign visitors to enhance their shopping experience," Li explained.

This effort has paid off. In the first half of 2024, foreign consumer purchases in Chongqing surged, with transaction numbers increasing more than tenfold and spending rising over ninefold compared to the previous year.

Alipay formed a strategic partnership with Chongqing in 2019. This collaboration focuses on various initiatives to foster digital transformation and economic growth within the region, leveraging Alipay's extensive digital payment and financial technology capabilities.

Alipay's services are now accessible at key locations throughout Chongqing, including airports, railway stations, and popular spots such as Hongyadong, Wulong Fairy Mountain, and Jinfo Mountain. This integration aims to enhance the experience for international visitors, making transactions easier and enriching their stay, thereby solidifying Chongqing's reputation as a growing global consumption hub.
