Rabat, Morocco - On July 18, a delegation of 10 entrepreneurs from Southwest China's Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality arrived in Morocco to seek business opportunities.

This mission, organized by the Africa-China Cooperation Association for Development (ACCAD), highlights the trend of Chinese companies expanding globally to compete internationally and explore collaborations in the North African region.

At a reception held at the Chinese Embassy in Rabat on July 19, Chinese Ambassador to Morocco Li Changlin, originally from Chongqing, greeted the visiting entrepreneurs from his hometown. Ambassador Li highlighted the importance of cultural sensitivity and local engagement, advising the entrepreneurs to tailor their business strategies to Morocco's distinctive economic environment, which has strong connections with Europe and the U.S.

During the visit, Dr. Nasser Bouchiba, President of ACCAD, outlined Morocco's market demands. He pointed out opportunities in water engineering, mining exploration, renewable energy, and hospitality but also warned of strong competition from European and American firms.

At ACCAD’s headquarters in Rabat, the delegation examined Morocco's investment policies and learned about the country's demographics, history, culture, and religious practices. Dr. Nasser Bouchiba emphasized the importance of collaboration between Chongqing and Morocco, highlighting the strategic alignment of the two regions and current projects in water engineering and agriculture.

At the final session, Revoneeds Investments Morocco, a firm focused on strategic investments in Morocco's cultural tourism, industrial development, and economic sectors, signed agreements with Chinese companies to collaborate on these areas within the Sino-Moroccan trade framework.

The diverse delegation, representing sectors like water treatment, international law firms, mining development, sports tourism, and financial media, will conduct on-site research in nine Moroccan cities. Each city has its own cultural identity and economic landscape, providing insights into the broad opportunities within Morocco's cultural tourism industry.

After the reconnaissance phase, the entrepreneurs expressed strong interest in hotel operations, mining ventures, and desalination projects. They were optimistic about using the upcoming Morocco World Cup as a profitable opportunity for Chongqing businesses. Dr. Nasser Bouchiba assured the delegation that the Association is committed to helping Chongqing enterprises realize their projects in Morocco.

Often referred to as the "European garden," Morocco is a key entry point to North Africa, strategically positioned at the crossroads of global trade. It offers unique resources, political stability, and attractive investment policies. After the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Morocco, Spain, and Portugal will jointly host the 2030 tournament. This will drive major infrastructure improvements, including upgrades to sports venues, transportation, and lodging, drawing investments from across the globe.
