Chongqing - In the early hours of July 30, Tianjin Airlines flight GS7941, with over 200 passengers, took off from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport to Moscow, resuming direct flights between the two cities.

The A330 flight lasts about 9 hours, cutting travel time by over four hours compared to previous routes with layovers. It operates on Tuesdays and Fridays, departing Chongqing at 5:55 AM and arriving in Moscow at 10:20 AM local time. Return flights leave Moscow at 12:20 PM and arrive in Chongqing at 1:20 AM the next day.

Inaugural flight tickets start at 3,180 yuan (about USD 440) from Chongqing and 1,090 yuan from Moscow, excluding taxes. Check sales channels for exact prices.

2023 marks the 75th anniversary of China-Russia diplomatic relations and the start of the China-Russia Years of Culture. Chongqing and Russia have seen strong economic and cultural exchanges.

Chongqing Normal University and the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory have signed agreements to enhance musical education and cultural exchange through a multi-level training system for artistic talents.

Alexander Sokolov, acting rector of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, expressed optimism about the bilateral cooperation, citing strong support from both governments and a solid foundation in music education.

"We are committed to leveraging our unique resources and extensive educational experience to expand and deepen our cooperation, aspiring to establish a top-tier music academy together," said Sokolov.

The resumed flight route is set to enhance tourism, culture, and economic ties. Moscow, renowned for landmarks like the Kremlin and Red Square and its "city of a thousand domes" architecture, provides a scenic summer getaway.

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has nearly doubled its international passenger traffic this year, reaching over 800,000. It now offers 25 international routes with 150 weekly flights to cities across Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
