By ZHAN CHEN|Aug 09,2024

Chongqing - By day, they are dedicated employees, but by night, they become enthusiastic night school students. Chinese youngsters are now turning to this new way to spend their evenings. With innovative courses and affordable rates, night schools are rapidly gaining popularity among the youth.

Recently, a Bridging News reporter visited the Wuli Cooperative Village Night School in Chongqing to explore this emerging nightlife trend and experience the unique benefits of night school.

This night school offers over 180 courses, from traditional culture and art creation to tech innovation, practical skills, and entertainment, attracting more than 15,000 learners.

Many young learners focus on language skills, driven by Chongqing's increasing international influence. "Students here are motivated and self-disciplined, making remarkable progress and creating a much more enjoyable learning environment than traditional schools," said a Korean teacher.

Students are attracted to the night school's small class sizes, affordable courses, and well-organized teaching system. The close-knit atmosphere of these classes is a major draw for many.

For example, standardized course fees at 50 yuan per hour provide great value. "It's amazing to gain so much knowledge for the price of an afternoon tea," said one student.

After classes, the school hosts a graduation performance where students display their learning. One student, who performed the song "New Boy" with classmates at the show, praised the school for offering invaluable opportunities to amateur enthusiasts like herself.

The students' enthusiasm and excitement are evident, with many expressing hopes for a broader range of diverse and challenging courses in the future.
