Chongqing - From August 24 to 25, over 20 consular officials and visa center representatives from countries including Cambodia, Chile, Belarus, Hungary, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Poland, Myanmar, and Italy visited Huangshui National Tourism Resort in Chongqing's Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County.
The itinerary included stunning views from the "Grassland Camping Paradise," relaxation at Sun Lake, and the natural "oxygen bar" at Dafeng Fortress. Guests also enjoyed local Tujia dances and the "Ten Thousand People Hand-Waving Dance" for an immersive cultural experience.
During the visit, the delegates participated in the "Seminar Between Chongqing and Consulates-General on Visa Facilitation" and "Chongqing to the World: Huangshui National Tourist Resort Promotion."
The event facilitated discussions with representatives from the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, the Shizhu County Government, and key local travel agencies. The discussions concerned visa policies, Chongqing tourism's global expansion, and Huangshui Tourist Resort's development.
Li Mingquan, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, highlighted Chongqing's growing popularity as a top destination for international travelers amid the "China Travel" boom.
He noted that Chongqing Jiangbei Airport is one of the 41 ports open to 72/144-hour visa-free transit, with a new "One-Stop Visa Service" for inbound tourism. As of July 26, the airport has seen over 1 million arrivals and departures this year, with a 150% increase compared to last year. The number of foreign travelers has tripled, with over 40,000 enjoying visa-free entry.
Burunova Karalina, Deputy Consul at the Consulate General of Belarus in Chongqing, said, "Chongqing is a grand and beautiful city that fascinates me with its perfect blend of modern architecture and traditional culture. I also enjoyed the stunning scenery of Shizhu and hope to return one day."
Chiara Cichellero, Deputy Head of the Visa Section at the Italian Consulate in Chongqing, said, "The architecture of Chongqing left a deep impression on me. The contrast between traditional and modern areas is striking. Observing the city skyline from the skyscrapers was an incredible experience."
Consular Visa Officer Kim Ki Chul from the South Korean Consulate in Chengdu was pleasantly surprised by Huangshui's refreshing climate, contrasting with the usual heat of Chongqing. "I didn't expect to find such a refreshing summer retreat like Huangshui in Shizhu. It was an unexpected delight."
Shizhu County officials noted that Huangshui's recent designation as a national-level tourism resort marks a new milestone in Shizhu's cultural and tourism development. The visit opens a window for Huangshui to showcase its diverse charm to the world and foster deeper cultural exchanges with various countries.
Zhu Mao, Deputy Director-General of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, stressed Chongqing's goal to become a globally renowned tourism destination. He emphasized continued efforts to enhance international tourism appeal through compelling global products, a prominent international brand, and a leading service system to provide excellent experiences for international visitors.
