Chongqing - The 16th Chongqing-Taiwan Week will be held from September 9 to 13 at the Chongqing (Nanping) International Conference and Exhibition Center, according to a press conference held on September 4.
Hosted jointly by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and supported by the Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit, this year's Taiwan Week will feature five key areas: major events, economic and trade cooperation, cultural exchange, grassroots interactions, and youth engagement, with a total of 18 sub-events.
Chen Quan, Director-General of the Chongqing Municipal Government Taiwan Affairs Office, expressed hopes that the event will encourage Taiwan compatriots and businesses to participate in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the New International Land-Sea Corridor, advancing cross-strait cooperation to new heights and broader fields.
The event will see the signing of eight key cross-strait economic and trade projects totaling RMB 10.87 billion (USD 1.53 billion), involving advanced manufacturing, modern services, agriculture, and youth employment and entrepreneurship.
Highlights include the opening ceremony, a signing ceremony for major Taiwan-funded projects, city promotion and investment attraction meetings, exchange activities, and cross-strait media "Dual City Chronicle" interviews. These initiatives aim to boost Chongqing-Taiwan integration and development.
Looking ahead, Chongqing aims to leverage these project signings to enhance collaboration with Taiwan businesses in fields such as electronic information, new materials, and advanced manufacturing. The goal is to implement and advance several new, promising, and large-scale projects, further deepening and solidifying Chongqing-Taiwan economic and trade exchanges.
The event also emphasizes promoting cross-strait youth exchanges, helping young people from both sides grow, succeed, and achieve their dreams. Activities will include a youth employment and entrepreneurship seminar in Chongqing and the 8th Taiwan Association Cup Slow Pitch Softball Invitational.
