Myanmar Bloggers Discover the Charm of Chongqing

By YAN DENG|Sep 12,2024

Chongqing - Invited by the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, a group of five famous Myanmar bloggers, Our Travel Diaries, recently embarked on a "Myanmar Bloggers China Tour" in Southwest China's Chongqing.

This initiative aims to boost cultural exchange and enhance Chongqing's profile in Myanmar. The bloggers documented their journey through videos and photos, showcasing the city's vibrant cultural and tourist attractions.

Their adventure began on August 31, when they explored highlights like the Chongqing Zoo Giant Panda Pavilion, Huangjueping Graffiti Art Street, and the bustling Jiefangbei area. They were particularly impressed by Chongqing's famous hot pot at Loquat Garden, which they described as a "mountain city shock" due to its scale and spicy flavor. They also enjoyed Chongqing Noodles, with blogger Myat praising the pea noodles as "very special."

On September 2, they traveled to Liangping District and visited Shuangguitang, the ancestral home of Zen Buddhism in Southwest China. Under the teacher's guidance, they made small handicrafts such as Liangping Woodblock New Year Paintings and Liangping Clay Pottery, experiencing the charm of Chongqing's intangible cultural heritage. The natural environment at Baili Bamboo Sea Resort and Shouhai Scenic Spot allowed the bloggers to feel the cool gift of Chongqing's mountains on a hot summer day.

In Dazu District, the bloggers explored the World Heritage Dazu Rock Carvings and visited the Dazu Rock Carvings Museum, listening to the stories of ancient Chinese rock carvings. For music blogger Ah Boy, a follower of Buddhism, the day made him "start to rethink his life," and he even called his mother to share the power of art he felt when confronted with the Dazu Rock Carvings.

They then traveled to the Hechuan District to visit the Diaoyu Fortress National Archaeological Site Park, exploring the origins of the resilient will of the mountain city's people and experiencing the making of the gorge inkstone, an intangible cultural heritage item.

Finally, this trip to Chongqing ended with a wonderful "Top of the World" performance by the Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe.

The bloggers actively shared their Chongqing city walk in an exclusive interview at the Headquarters of Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance.

"I was particularly fascinated by Chongqing's hot pots and small noodles." Blogger Myat, who is half Chinese, felt especially at home on her trip to Chongqing. "I've traveled to many countries and cities, and Chongqing is one of the places that made me feel most comfortable," Myat said.

Music blogger Ah Boy has been to Chongqing for the third time. The first two trips were business trips, which were monotonous and boring, but this time, he finally felt the charm of the mountain city. "I'm willing to explore the city with all my heart and soul," Ah Boy says. He also mentioned that one day, he might consider staying in Chongqing to experience the city's vibrant atmosphere.
