Chongqing - Referred to as the "Motorcycle Capital," Chongqing boasts the largest number of motorcycles in the country and is the only megacity in China where motorcycles are not banned.
Recently, the 22nd China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition (CIMAMotor) took place in Chongqing, featuring over 860 exhibitors from around the world and showcasing more than 3,000 new motorcycles.
Bridging News interviewed several international motorcycle companies at the exhibition to gain their perspectives on Chongqing's reputation as the "Motorcycle Capital."
Jonathan Lai, Brand Manager of Malaysian motorcycle brand RCB, shared his thoughts: "We've received a lot of inquiries from end-users in Southeast Asia about aftermarket and modification products. Based on this feedback, we've developed a strategic plan to enter the Chinese market."
The exhibition also facilitated numerous business opportunities. For instance, Yury Zuev, representing SM-Motors from Russia, engaged in negotiations with Zongshen, a leading motorcycle firm in Chongqing.
"This Russian client has been our long-term partner for several years, based in Moscow, and they've placed orders for around 2,000 to 3,000 units, including some off-road motorcycles and Zongshen's Cyclone models," said a Zongshen representative.
Alan Marc, Marketing Director of European firm Mapetrol, expressed his impressions of CIMAMotor: "We usually only attend major European fairs in Milan, Frankfurt, and others, but this time, CIMA has truly impressed us with its scale and quality."
As the only national motorcycle expo in China, CIMAMotor has been held in Chongqing for 22 consecutive years. It has evolved into one of the world’s leading professional motorcycle exhibitions, serving as a crucial platform for launching new products and technologies in the industry.
