Chongqing - On September 24, Chongqing Dianjiang County presented its strategic vision to become a demonstration area for urban-rural integration and rural revitalization, capitalizing on its strategic position in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.
Mao Ping, Secretary of the CPC Dianjiang County Committee in Chongqing, introduced that Dianjiang is located in the heart of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, connecting the main urban area of Chongqing with the northeastern urban cluster of the Three Gorges Reservoir. With nearly 1,000 square kilometers suitable for new industrialization, urbanization, and agricultural modernization, Dianjiang is rich in resources, including two national-level natural gas fields. It boasts the largest variety and scale of peony cultivation in southern China, with two national 4A scenic spots themed around peonies.
In recent years, Dianjiang has focused on integrating into the main urban area, building a connectivity hub, and creating a new industrial high ground. It strives to construct a modernized Dianjiang that is ecologically beautiful, economically strong, and enriching for its citizens.
Following the overall spatial layout of "North City, South Garden," Dianjiang has promoted coordinated development among the High-tech Zone, Eastern New Area, and the old city, accelerating the construction of a modern suburban new city covering 50 square kilometers and accommodating 500,000 residents.
Peng Feng, Executive Deputy County Mayor of Dianjiang, stated that constructing new cities and renewing old cities are eternal topics in urban development. Dianjiang aims to build the Eastern New Area as a city reception area and showcase, integrating the concept of "high-quality living" into urban planning and construction. The Sanhe Lake Wetland Park, dubbed "Eye of Dianjiang," hosts annual events like the Peony Horse Racing and Triathlon, allowing citizens to participate in premier competitions at their doorstep.
Additionally, the focus is on upgrading old neighborhoods to improve living conditions. Three hundred sixty-four old communities have been renovated, benefiting over 30,000 households through initiatives like installing elevators and improving public facilities.
Dianjiang has made significant efforts to achieve comprehensive rural revitalization as a major agricultural county. Key initiatives include building five central towns and establishing 36 model villages. Moving forward, Dianjiang plans to lead with the construction of a modern agricultural demonstration area in the Longxi River Basin, focusing on high-yield, smart agriculture and green development to enhance the agricultural landscape in hilly areas.
As one of the key carriers for rural revitalization in Dianjiang County, the Mingyue Mountain Rural Revitalization Demonstration Belt has become a model for the integration of culture and tourism, thanks to its unique natural scenery and rich cultural heritage.
Mingyue Mountain spans the entire Dianjiang area, boasting abundant ecological resources and summer temperatures about five °C lower than those in urban areas, making it a natural ecological oasis. Leveraging this resource advantage, Dianjiang County promotes vacation tourism, focuses on health and wellness retreats, and vigorously develops the homestay and leisure industry.
Within the Mingyue Mountain Rural Revitalization Demonstration Belt, the Xianyun Mingju RV Camping Base has become a popular destination for visitors. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, it provides stunning scenery and a peaceful escape from city noise. Guests can pitch tents, enjoy homemade dishes, participate in outdoor activities, and experience the charm of nature. The Xianyun Mingju RV Camping Base enriches Dianjiang's tourism offerings and boosts economic development in nearby villages.
At the same time, Dianjiang County has explored its local cultural features by hosting various vibrant cultural and tourism events, such as the Stone Mill Tofu Cultural Festival, road cycling races, and paddleboarding competitions. This integration of culture and tourism has enhanced Dianjiang's visibility and reputation while injecting new vitality into rural revitalization.
