Chongqing - The 2024 InSEA Asia Regional Congress, themed "Unlimited Co-creation," took place at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (SCFAI) on September 22. Over 70 experts from nine countries across four continents participated, and the event will continue until the 26th.
Co-hosted by SCFAI and the International Society for Education through Art (InSEA), this event addresses the challenges of digitalization and globalization in visual art education. Attendees will explore how visual art education should adapt to social development and technological change, how to adapt to the integration of multiple disciplines and fields, how to adapt to students' diversity in the new era, and how to adapt to the mutual learning and exchange of civilizations between cultures, to promote visual arts education to inject strong innovative vitality into social progress.
The event showcased a strong international presence, with scholars attending from Australia, Japan, the United States, South Korea, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. Domestic participants included faculty from renowned institutions like Tsinghua University, East China Normal University, and Shandong Arts University.
"These topics were both cutting-edge and academically enriching. As we explored 'Digital Integration,' we considered how to harness technology while preserving art education's humanistic and creative essence," said Jiao Xingtao, President of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.
Jiao also highlighted the importance of the "Cultural Exchange" theme: "Art education must enhance cross-cultural understanding and promote cultural identity. We needed to explore how art education could contribute to mutual learning and dialogue among different civilizations."
During the congress, students and faculty from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute actively engaged in discussions and presentations, showcasing their enthusiasm and exploratory spirit in art education. One student said, "Professor Qian Chuxi from East China Normal University delivered a profound presentation on 'Concepts and Strategies of Art Appreciation Education in Schools in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.' It offered a new perspective on how we, as students, can cultivate irreplaceable aesthetic qualities in the age of AI. I'm looking forward to the keynote speeches over the next two days and hope to learn even more."
This event served as a platform for sharing ideas and experiences and strengthened international cooperation in the field. Jiao concluded, "We believed this congress would help participants find resonance in different cultural backgrounds and educational practices, ultimately promoting the advancement of art education globally."
