Chongqing - Upon entering the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) Operation Dispatching Center, visitors are welcomed by a large screen that provides real-time updates on cargo transportation, volume, and warehouse status.
This center acts as the "brain" of ILSTC operations and was a key highlight during the 2024 high-quality development research tour on September 23 at the Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park in Shapingba District.
During the week-long tour, journalists around China conduct field interviews and investigations across 18 districts and counties, uncovering the story of the new Chongqing.
The ILSTC Operation Dispatching Center is located in the country's first dry port, which stands out as a key feature of the Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park.
As its name suggests, the dry port is landlocked, but it spans 269 acres and houses essential facilities, including the ILSTC operation center, an international shipping container allocation center, and an import-export cold chain distribution center. This makes it a vital link in extending the ILSTC's land transportation system to maritime networks.
Duan Bensheng, deputy manager of New Land-sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd., explained that products from ASEAN countries—such as agricultural goods and fruits—can reach the Chongqing dry port via the ILSTC in as little as one week and make their way to consumers quickly.
Additionally, a variety of regional products, including citrus fruits from Zhongxian, lemons from Tongnan, and radishes from Tongliang, are also consolidated here. Through the ILSTC, these items can access over 500 ports across 124 countries and regions on six continents.
The Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park has established a modern logistics system encompassing channels, hubs, and networks. It connects 110 cities in nearly 40 countries by land and links to 523 ports in 124 countries by sea.
"It's hard to imagine that this once-isolated region has transformed into a vital transportation hub extending in all directions," said Fang Linlin, deputy director of the International Department at Science and Technology Daily.
Fang, coming from a technology-focused publication, understands the crucial role technology plays in today's landscape and attributes the success of the Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park to its robust data, analysis, and management systems that support its operations.
"The smooth logistics we see in Chongqing today are a result of careful design and strategic planning," Fang explained.
She views this development as a reflection of new, high-quality, productive forces. Chongqing has effectively harnessed its resources, applying innovative solutions across various sectors, especially logistics.
For example, the integrated intelligent public data platform not only offers extensive data resources but also establishes a robust digital foundation for the modernization of megacities.
"Residents of Chongqing are leveraging their resources to effectively manage a thriving metropolis, particularly in the logistics sector, and this has truly impressed me," Fang remarked.
