Chongqing - According to the press conference on Sept 26, Chongqing's Changshou District has reported impressive growth in its digital economy, with a core industry value-added growth rate of 12.9%, ranking sixth citywide. The district hosts 146 registered digital economy enterprises, including 45 above-scale companies, reflecting a robust momentum in digital development during the first half of this year.
Following the "1361" strategic plan for Digital Chongqing, Changshou has made the digital economy a key driver for enhancing productivity. This approach aims to create a data-driven industrial hub in Chongqing, opening new pathways for high-quality development.
Using digital reforms, Changshou is enhancing its "Digital + Manufacturing" capabilities by building an ecosystem combining an "industrial brain" with future factories, driving comprehensive digital transformation across the manufacturing sector.
The Chongqing Manufacturing Digital Transformation Empowerment Center in Changshou serves as a key platform, focusing on this direction and gathering resources for digital transformation services. An expert committee has been formed to attract over 100 digital service companies, bolstering the digital transformation of local manufacturing.
In the Changshou Economic Development Zone, the smart production line at Chongqing International Composites Co Ltd is in full swing, with autonomous vehicles and precision robots at work. Many local companies have implemented smart upgrades, resulting in significant improvements in production efficiency. By mid-2024, Changshou had completed investments of 2.73 billion yuan(about $0.38 billion) in 94 smart upgrade projects, establishing three fully connected 5G factories, nine smart factories, and 66 digital workshops.
On July 26, 2024, the Yiwu Commodity City (Chongqing) Smart Industrial Park, co-created by the Yiwu Municipal People's Government and the Changshou District People's Government, officially opened. This park brings together 120 quality suppliers, showcases over 6,000 products, and links 23 national industrial bases.
The park features a comprehensive setup, including a trade exhibition, digital trade data, training and incubation centers, and a logistics base. It aims to create an international trade complex that integrates display, matchmaking, digital trade, talent training, and foreign exchange services, showcasing Changshou's commitment to the "Digital + Services" initiative.
As a vital hub in the New International Land-sea Trade Corridor and an important port city in the upper Yangtze River, Changshou has embraced opportunities to integrate into this corridor's development, accelerating the establishment of a transportation data capability center.
At the Chongqing Manufacturing Digital Transformation Empowerment Center, a real-time monitoring system tracks hazardous material transport routes. This is part of a "1+4" digital transportation project developed by Chongqing Jiaoxin IoT Technology Co., Ltd.
Changshou is also making strides in agriculture. In March, the first phase of the Fuxi Farm project, a collaboration between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Changshou District, was completed. This project exemplifies "China Smart Agriculture 1.0," empowering modern agricultural practices with digital technology.
The farm employs a grid data management system to monitor soil nutrients, utilizing satellite imagery, drones, and various sensors to create a comprehensive monitoring network. This innovation allows farmers to manage crop conditions and guide smart machinery operations remotely.
In the Longxi River Basin, Changshou is also developing a modern agricultural demonstration zone, applying digital agricultural technologies in partnership with Southwest University. A 10,000-acre smart aquaculture demonstration base uses underwater sensors to monitor farming environments.
Changshou is also collaborating with Alibaba to launch a "Digital Rural Ecological Laboratory" and develop a digital asset management platform to enhance rural resource management.
Through its digital strategy, Changshou District is driving intelligent upgrades in manufacturing, digital transformation in services, and smart advancements in agriculture, providing strong momentum for the region's high-quality economic growth.
