Chongqing - On September 24, the 2024 high-quality development research tour visited the Huhan community in Dadukou District. There, they observed individuals with disabilities working on data annotation and another group of women creating camellia flowers.
"Our focus is on creating job opportunities for marginalized groups that society often overlooks," said Wang Di, secretary of the Huhan community.

The community prioritizes employment for people with disabilities by offering sit-down jobs that require minimal technical skills, such as data labeling tasks involving text and QR code processing.
Currently, nearly 60 individuals with disabilities work there, having completed over 80 projects worth about 1.08 million yuan (about 0.15 million USD).
In the future, the community plans to introduce barista training programs to expand employment options and development opportunities for people with disabilities, helping them discover their interests and achieve a sense of self-worth.

The community has also established Chongqing's first urban intangible cultural heritage workshop, targeting local women to promote flexible employment and increase income.
"We've seen many women, including mothers and early retirees, looking for meaningful work," explained Liu Yiru, workshop manager. "They receive free skills training in paper cutting and embroidery, with some evolving into skilled artisans or entrepreneurs."
Currently, the workshop produces brooches and headdresses that can be used as gifts for foreign affairs and exported to international markets.
This initiative has enabled over 90 women to achieve flexible employment at home, resulting in an average monthly income increase of 1,000 yuan per person and an output value of 250,000 yuan. It provides them with a stable income while promoting the inheritance and development of local intangible cultural heritage.

These initiatives are part of the Yidu Employment Train, launched in Dadukou District in 2022, to offer residents accessible job opportunities. Since its launch, the program has successfully created 38,000 jobs, effectively tackling employment challenges in the community.
Moreover, the initiative has transformed community grid workers into labor brokers, empowering them to facilitate targeted employment for 5,240 individuals while boosting their incomes by nearly 500,000 yuan.
The Yidu Employment Train program now offers a variety of services, aiming to expand its reach and facilitate greater information sharing, enabling individuals and companies to connect right at their doorstep.
