Chongqing - As a part of the 2024 High-Quality Development Research Tour, Yongchuan and Rongchang districts have emerged as front-runners in Chongqing's development landscape, showcasing innovative strategies aligned with national economic goals. 

Both areas are making significant strides in the digital economy and cultural industries, reinforcing Chongqing's position as a key player in China's growth narrative.

Yongchuan: a hub for digital innovation and film production

Yongchuan is rapidly transforming into a digital economy powerhouse. Chongqing Cloud Valley·Yongchuan Big Data Industrial Park, covering one square kilometer, features 700,000 square meters of operational industrial buildings and employs over 25,000 individuals. The Big Data Industrial Park represents Yongchuan’s long-term investment in digital creative, autonomous driving, and service outsourcing industries.

A standout feature of Yongchuan's progress is its state-of-the-art virtual filming technology. Li Chao, the head of Dawa (Chongqing), emphasized the impact of this innovation: "Using virtual studios for filming can help save at least 60-70% of production costs. For scenes that are difficult to build in reality, such as fires or outer space, high-tech virtual studios can help actors immerse themselves more effectively than traditional green screens." Such advancements in virtual filming place Yongchuan at the forefront of the film industry, setting a new standard for creativity and efficiency.

The district's film industry is gaining recognition, having hosted the 1st China Chongqing Science and Technology Film Week. This event attracted over 1,000 leading producers and industry experts, solidifying Yongchuan’s commitment to becoming a cultural hub. The construction of a new phase of the technology film studio, which will add 12 virtual filming stages, reflects ongoing investments in the sector.

Rongchang: smart pork industry

Meanwhile, Rongchang is making waves in sustainable and smart development, focusing on ecological preservation while promoting economic growth. The district leverages its rich agricultural resources and beautiful landscapes to develop eco-tourism, aligning with broader national strategies for green growth.

Rongchang has implemented policies to enhance local agricultural productivity and promote sustainable practices, including establishing organic farming cooperatives. A notable advancement is the integration of big data in agriculture. Zhao Ping, the comprehensive department head of National Hog Big Data, stated, "We are actively relying on big data technology to promote our brand. Our 'Rongchang Index' for the pork industry has received recognition from the Ministry of Agriculture, providing critical production insights to farmers and businesses, with over 20,000 daily clicks."

As Chongqing continues to push for a higher quality of development, the achievements in Yongchuan and Rongchang serve as exemplary models.
