Chongqing - Technology and engineering were highlighted during the 2024 High-quality Development research tour at the Seres Super Factory in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing, on September 26.
"This is the 9000T integrated die-cast body, one of the core technologies behind Seres' intelligent manufacturing, first utilized in the AITO M9," a staff member explained beside the model.
This innovative process eliminates nearly 80 parts from the M9's rear body, achieving the highest level of integration among die-cast components on the market and increasing torsional rigidity by 23%.
Additionally, 212 parts and 1,440 welding points have been reduced, effectively lowering the body’s total weight and simplifying the manufacturing process.
The AITO M9 is a full-size luxury SUV developed by Seres, a Chongqing-based auto company, in collaboration with Huawei. Launched at the end of last year, it has quickly become the best-selling model in the market for vehicles priced over 500,000 RMB (about 71,247 USD).
Inside the factory, reporters observed an expansive space filled with robots. People could only walk in designated areas as robots continuously transported parts.
The factory employs over 3,000 collaborative robots, achieving 100% automation in key processes and providing 24-hour online quality monitoring.
The AITO M9 features cutting-edge technologies, including advanced aluminum casting, flexible, intelligent body technology, and low-carbon green painting processes.
Other technological advancements have enhanced the consumer experience. For instance, the AITO M9 features dual-headlight 2.6-megapixel refined lighting that automatically creates a dark zone when the high beams illuminate oncoming vehicles, avoiding glare while ensuring optimal visibility.
Visitors were eager to take a ride and praised the vehicle's advanced technology. Yang Yonglei from the Guangming Daily editorial office visited the factory for the first time.
"I've toured several car factories before, but this one in Chongqing has shown me that the city truly deserves its reputation as an automotive production hub in the country," he noted.
In the first half of this year, Chongqing's automobile production reached 1.214 million units, making it the top city in the country. The Liangjiang New Area has emerged as a key hub for the automotive industry, attracting major manufacturers like Changan Automobile, Changan Ford, and Seres.
Notably, the vehicles produced in Liangjiang New Area generally achieve L2-level or higher in autonomous driving capabilities. This advancement positions the region among the intelligent, connected new energy vehicle sector leaders nationwide.
