Minnesota - The "Cultures of China: Minnesota Moon - Longing for Home" Mid-Autumn Festival celebration recently took place at the Mall of America in Minnesota, co-hosted by the local Chinese community and various ethnic communities. Huang Limin, Deputy Consul General of China in Chicago, attended the event and presented awards to representatives of the Minnesota Chinese community.
Huang praised the efforts of the Minnesota Chinese community in promoting Chinese culture and fostering US-China friendship, emphasizing the significance of this year as the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 45th anniversary of US-China diplomatic relations. He urged community organizations to continue supporting the peaceful reunification of China and to showcase the vibrancy of the Chinese community, contributing to the friendship between the two nations.
The organizers also invited well-known folk artists to join the festivities, promoting exchanges of Chinese ancient culture, arts, and heritage with local ethnic communities and showcasing authentic Asian culture to broader American audiences. In collaboration with various ethnic groups, the event featured performances from local Chinese art troupes alongside Hmong, Indian, Lao, and Vietnamese communities. This gathering aimed to create a cultural performance that honors the shared heritage of ancient Asian communities while celebrating the modern life and traditions of Minnesota and the United States. The celebration sought to promote cultural exchange and appreciation across communities by engaging artists from diverse backgrounds.
