Chongqing - The Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum will officially launch the Three Gorges Cultural Digital Cinema on October 1.
The Three Gorges Cultural Digital Cinema serves as an open digital cultural platform, focusing on showcasing the rich heritage of Three Gorges culture while promoting the Yangtze River civilization. Modeled after cinema networks, this platform collaborates with cultural creative teams from both domestic and international background. By utilizing advanced technologies such as virtual reality (VR), the cinema offers visitors a unique blend of technology and cultural appreciation.
According to the museum, this initiative aims to integrate cutting-edge digital technology to upgrade the museum’s exhibitions and provide visitors with an immersive experience of Three Gorges culture as well as the civilization of Yangtze River.
During the upcoming National Day holiday, two exciting new digital experience projects will debut:
"Dreaming into the Tang Dynasty" - An Immersive Exploration of Chinese Civilization
In this interactive space, walls and floors are adorned with various geometric patterns resembling QR codes. Participants wear lightweight headsets equipped with advanced cameras, allowing them to navigate freely through a digital museum that blends ancient art with modern technology. This experience transports them back to the Tang Dynasty's Zhenguan era, where they can explore the unexcavated Zhaoling tomb and witness thrilling battles involving legendary generals, all while enjoying stunning views of the ancient capital, Chang’an. As visitors walk through collapsing tomb paths, they will find themselves physically engaged in the journey, with a vivid, interactive portrayal of the grand Tang scene unfolding before them. This project utilizes the latest NOLO SONIC2 spatial computing devices, offering 4K resolution and ergonomic design to ensure a fatigue-free experience and realistic visuals.
"Exploring the Great Three Gorges" - A Unique Journey into the Age of Dinosaurs
In the "Three Gorges Jurassic" experience, participants assume the roles of team members in a scientific expedition to the Yangtze River's Three Gorges. During their mission, they unexpectedly enter the isolated Dinosaur Valley. Amidst the mysterious rainforest inhabited by dinosaurs, visitors must solve a series of escape puzzles while collecting ancient plant samples and geological data to successfully escape the valley and step into a new Three Gorges world. Each scene is crafted with interactive activities and games that enrich the visitor experience, making it particularly suitable for youth audiences.
The launch of the Three Gorges Cultural Digital Cinema marks an important step forward for the Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum as it embraces high-quality development. It highlights the museum’s commitment to integrating technology with culture. Moving forward, the museum plans to delve deeper into the Ba-Yu and Three Gorges cultures, continuously introducing premium exhibitions such as "High Gorge, Flat Lake," and "Chuanjiang Navigation.” The museum will also continue to attract top-tier domestic and international cultural creative teams to enrich its offerings, enhance its digital infrastructure, and promote the integration of digital technology within cultural heritage work, ultimately boosting the museum’s cultural productivity, innovation, and international competitiveness.
