Chongqing - On October 7, data released by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development showed that during the 2024 National Day holiday, the city received 22.68 million domestic tourists, representing a 14.1% year-on-year increase. Tourists spent 15.402 billion yuan (about 2.177 billion USD), up 15.8% compared to the previous year.
The tourism reports released by several online travel service platforms, including Trip.com, Tongcheng Travel, and Fliggy, show that Chongqing ranks among the top ten nationwide in multiple cultural and tourism indicators. According to Trip.com data, Chongqing has ranked among the top 10 popular destinations nationwide. Tongcheng Travel's data reveals that the "Chongqing-Shenzhen" and "Shenzhen-Chongqing" routes ranked first and second among the top ten domestic flight routes during the National Day holiday. Additionally, Chongqing ranks fifth on the "popular hotel booking cities" list nationwide. Similarly, Fliggy data shows that Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Nanjing, and Xi'an are the top ten cities regarding tourism orders during the National Day holiday.

Additionally, the number of inbound overnight visitors surged by 140.4% year-on-year. As of 6 PM on October 7, the 130 monitored tourist attractions in the city received a total of 8.46 million visitors, reflecting a 13.1% growth.
In key tourist destinations, Hongyadong saw 1.031 million visitors, Ciqikou Ancient Town welcomed 865,000 visitors, Gele Mountain Martyrs' Cemetery had 307,000 visitors, the Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum saw 123,000, and the Yangtze River Cableway attracted 99,000 tourists.
Among 5A tourist attractions, Wulong Karst Scenic Area received 557,000 visitors, Youyang Taohuayuan Scenic Area welcomed 202,000, Qianjiang Zhuoshui Scenic Area had 183,000, Nanchuan Jinfo Mountain attracted 145,000, Fengjie Baidi City and Qutang Gorge saw 118,000, and Dazu Rock Carvings hosted 103,000 visitors. In the city's theme parks, Chongqing Zoo recorded 302,000 visitors, Chongqing Happy Valley had 94,000, and Chongqing Yongchuan Locajoy Animal Theme Park saw 88,000 visitors.
Over 750 cultural and tourism events were held across the city, alongside more than 100 autumn travel routes and 150 measures to benefit citizens.
More than 300 Chinese tourists from Malaysia and Indonesia toured Chongqing to celebrate China's National Day. The game "Black Myth: Wukong" spurred the popularity of Dazu Rock Carvings, where optimized routes and Wukong-themed cosplay parades enhanced visitor engagement, leading to record-high visitor numbers.

Yuzhong District introduced numerous new digital cultural tourism experiences, with the 2088 Immersive Experience Project in the testing phase and 400,000 tickets pre-sold during the holiday.
The Liu Cixin Science Fiction Immersive Experience received 2,206 visitors, generating 109,700 yuan in revenue. The "Sanxingdui" VR space attracted 6,435 visitors, with revenue totaling 645,000 yuan. The "Three Gorges Jurassic" VR space saw 15,730 visitors, generating 1.053 million yuan in revenue.
In Shapingba District, seven "National Day In-Depth Tours" were launched, alongside more than 300 events such as the Cloud Music Hall, the Under-the-Tree Concert, National Day Special Folk Storytelling, Song Dynasty Dance Parade, and poetry celebrations, offering tourists a culturally rich holiday experience.

A total of 430 performances were held in 31 theaters across the city, drawing an audience of 123,000.
Sixteen public art galleries offered 23 themed exhibitions, attracting 74,000 visitors. The "Bayu Ode to the Nation" concert, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, brought together over 1,500 officials and citizens, who sang "Ode to the Motherland" in unison.

The "Sing to the Nation" concert, part of the National Day celebrations and "Music Echoes in Yuzhong," led to a 302.24% year-on-year increase in visitors to the Chongqing People's Auditorium.
The Chongqing Acrobatic Troupe and Chongqing Opera House jointly presented the symphony and acrobatics show "Chaoqu Live House," offering visitors an immersive audio-visual feast.
Original ballet "The Red Shoes," the large-scale red-themed stage play "Chongqing 1949," and the play "Hejie Teahouse" were popular among audiences during the holiday.
Flash mobs by Chongqing Sichuan Opera Troupe and Chongqing Opera House at Chongqing North Railway Station and Jiangbei Airport made it to the national trending list on Douyin. Additionally, the first stone cave culture-themed bookstore, "Dazu Rock Carvings · Nanshu Bureau," began trial operations at the Dazu Rock Carvings Digital Exhibition and Reception Center.
All 42 public libraries and 41 cultural centers in Chongqing were open for free and provided a variety of online services. By October 7, these facilities had welcomed 740,300 visitors in person and served an additional 1.1306 million people online.
The city held 620 public cultural events, attracting 896,300 participants. Activities such as the "Times of Splendor: Ode to the Nation" Chongqing Folk Art Showcase, the "Songs of the New Era" Youth Singing Contest in Yubei District, and the "Chronicle of the People's Republic of China" exhibition commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China enriched citizens' holiday cultural lives.
Chongqing's museums and memorial halls planned and launched 79 exhibitions and 113 activities related to cultural relics, science, and art. A total of 1.7079 million visitors were received, reflecting a 21.44% year-on-year increase.
Dazu Rock Carvings Research Institute and Air China's Chongqing branch jointly launched the "Yuyuehui Dazu Rock Carvings Art Exhibition" at Jiangbei International Airport, which received positive feedback from travelers.
Chongqing held 82 traditional culture experience exhibitions and sales events, a 10% increase year-on-year. These events attracted nearly 500,000 visitors, up 5% from last year. Nearly 300 representative intangible cultural heritage items were involved in these activities.
