Chongqing - The Nakorn Pathom Waste-to-Energy Project in Thailand, led by Chongqing Sanfeng Covanta Environmental Industry Co., Ltd., recently completed cold functional testing and passed its factory acceptance test.
Kevin Lu, managing director of the company’s international business division, highlighted that Sanfeng Covanta handles the design, equipment supply, and technical support for this international Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project in Thailand. While on-site construction is ongoing, equipment manufacturing and deliveries are progressing smoothly.
The Nakorn Pathom project is designed to process up to 550 tons of waste per day and treat 183,000 tons of municipal solid waste annually. It features a 550t/d mechanical grate incinerator and a 9.9MW condensing steam turbine generator, ensuring efficient waste processing and energy production.
This project highlights Sanfeng Covanta's growing global market presence and capacity to serve international clients. Known in China’s environmental and solid waste management sectors, Sanfeng Covanta has established a strong reputation for technological expertise in research, development, and equipment manufacturing.
Lu emphasized that as the waste-to-energy industry evolves, Sanfeng Covanta is adapting by focusing on its core competencies while exploring new growth opportunities to stay at the cutting edge of innovation.
The global waste-to-energy industry is experiencing significant growth as countries seek sustainable waste management solutions and energy independence. Experts attributed this growth to the increasing waste generation, stricter environmental regulations, and the demand for alternative energy sources.
Amid current conditions, Sanfeng Covanta is focused on expanding into overseas markets. Lu emphasized plans to strengthen its global presence by localizing operations in strategic regions and establishing offices to share its technological advances and expertise with international partners.
In May, the company took a significant step by signing a strategic cooperation agreement with France's SUEZ Group. This partnership enables both companies to combine their technology, products, and services expertise to explore international markets jointly and drive innovation in the global solid waste industry.
Sanfeng Covanta currently operates 254 projects worldwide, with 413 incineration lines and a daily waste treatment capacity exceeding 220,000 tons. The company's core technologies and equipment hold leading market positions in Thailand, India, and Vietnam.
