Light Art Exhibition in UK Showcases Chinese Traditional Festival Culture

HuddersfieldOn October 23, the European light art exhibition "Chasing the Light—Pursuing the Dream—Witnessing China," which showcases artistic expressions of Chinese cultural symbols, launched its inaugural showing at the University of Huddersfield.

Counselor Liang Yan from Manchester's Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China attended the opening ceremony. Liang praised, "It fosters a harmonious dialogue rooted in UK-China heritage and plays a crucial role in advancing cultural and educational exchanges."

The exhibition features works primarily created by Chinese artists, collaborative pieces by Chinese and international artists, and independent works by foreign artists. These artworks cleverly integrate Chinese aesthetics into the fabric of European cities, offering a powerful and immersive visual experience that showcases the modern civilization of the Chinese nation to international audiences.

On October 24, parallel academic dialogues occurred at the University of Huddersfield. The discussions, moderated by Zhao Wei from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and Ji Chen from Jilin Academy of Arts, focused on the themes of "Art and Technology: Self-Dissemination of Traditional Chinese Culture" and "Heritage and Innovation: Overseas Students' Perspectives on Chinese Culture."

Zhao Wei encouraged participants to draw from local experiences and the rich resources of Chinese art education, emphasizing the potential to inspire students and scholars in the UK. He expressed hope that the exhibition would motivate more artists to engage in cultural exchange projects, furthering China's mission to share its heritage globally.

The opening ceremony featured speeches from distinguished guests, including Professor Zhang Jie, former Vice President and doctoral advisor at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute; Professor Bob Cryan, Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield and President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology; Alistair Sambell, Vice Chancellor of Huddersfield; Professor Ma Minhua, Vice Chancellor of the University of Surrey; Dong Hua, Dean of the School of Design at Brunel University; Nic Clear, Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at Huddersfield; and Dr. Liam Devlin, Associate Dean for International Affairs and Personnel at Huddersfield.
