By HUXIN LUO|Oct 29,2024

Chongqing - A delegation from chambers of commerce along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) visited Guoyuan Port and the Seres smart factory in Liangjiang New Area during their visit in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality from October 23 to 25.

They toured the welding and painting workshops at the Seres factory and experienced the AITO model on October 24.

John McLean OBE, Chairman of the China Britain Business Development Centre, stated that the ILSTC opens doors for British companies to access Chongqing and China. Leveraging this corridor, Seres now exports its new energy vehicles to Europe on dedicated freight trains.

Statistics show that Chongqing's new energy vehicle exports are surging, with electric vehicle exports up 124.9% year-on-year from January to September and their value rising by 131.9%. Seres has accelerated its European expansion, successfully launching models in the UK, Germany, and Switzerland.

McLean said that the UK's market share of pure electric vehicles has reached approximately 17%. Furthermore, the UK plans for 80% of new cars sold in Great Britain to be zero emission by 2030. He remarked, "Chinese vehicle companies have got to play a part" in the momentum of the UK automotive market.

The delegation also conducted research at Guoyuan Port. As a vital hub in the ILSTC, Guoyuan Port facilitates efficient logistics and trade routes between Western China and global markets. It serves as a distribution center to export complete vehicles and automotive disassembled parts from Chongqing.

Supramanion Gnanasambanthan PJK, Secretary-General of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) expressed his admiration for the port after the visit, stating that the ILSTC "is a very good eye-opener that we can do a very good business between Malaysia and Chongqing."
