Chongqing - Over 110 representatives from more than 30 countries, including Malaysia and Russia, attended the 2024 China (Tongnan) Lemon Industry High-Quality Development Conferenc in Chongqing on October 25 to foster global cooperation in the lemon industry.
"Tongnan lemons are not only a local treasure but a global asset," said Wen Tianping, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Tongnan District Committee. He emphasized Tongnan's dedication to becoming the world's lemon capital, aiming to establish it as China's leading lemon brand.
The conference highlighted major strides in the internationalization of Tongnan lemons, which are now exported to over 30 countries, including Russia and Singapore, and capture 45% of China’s lemon market. The region has also established direct export channels and trade centers, strengthening global connections.
A digital transformation initiative was also unveiled, introducing a comprehensive digital model for the lemon industry that integrates production, processing, and marketing. This initiative aims to boost operational efficiency and support farmers through smart technologies.
The event was concluded with the signing of 59 new projects across various sectors, marking a promising future for Tongnan's lemon industry and reinforcing its commitment to quality and sustainability.
