Chongqing - On the afternoon of October 30, senior officials from Singapore’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority visited the Western China International Communication Organization (WCICO) park.

The two sides reached a preliminary agreement on China-Singapore media collaboration, including setting up a Bridging News office in Singapore and co-hosting the 2025 Land-Sea Economic Forum.

Zhao Wujun, Director of WCICO, led the Singaporean delegation on a tour of the studio, central kitchen, editorial offices, and other park facilities. Deputy Director Catherine Chen provided a brief overview of WCICO’s editorial activities, explaining how WCICO integrates and utilizes multi-platform resources, talents, and technology to tell Chongqing’s story to the world.

At the discussion, both sides explored deeper China-Singapore media collaboration. Chen outlined plans for a Bridging News office in Singapore to handle news, editorial, and business operations, supporting Chongqing companies’ activities and partnerships in the region. This site would offer comprehensive reporting on finance, technology, and more for an international audience.

She also announced plans to co-host the 2025 Land-Sea Economic Forum in Chongqing and Singapore, emphasizing “China-ASEAN Supply Chain Collaboration” to strengthen cultural and economic ties.

"Using the establishment of the Belt and Road Journalists Station as a stepping stone, we hope to attract more Singaporean news agencies and international PR firms to set up stations in Chongqing's WCICO park, facilitating international media coverage in Chongqing," Chen said.

The Singapore media delegation expressed keen interest in WCICO's proposals. Singapore and Chongqing have strong ties due to the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, and this visit further deepened the delegation’s understanding of China’s regional international communication hubs. The delegation expressed support for establishing a representative office in Singapore and looked forward to broader media cooperation.

Guang Feng Lam, Deputy Director at MDDI's Joint Communications Centre, noted that Singapore’s media landscape is independent and diverse. He suggested starting with content exchange and resource sharing to explore the possibilities for joint reporting with Chongqing media. He also encouraged Chongqing media teams to visit Singapore for on-site reporting to deepen exchanges and achieve mutual benefits through collaboration.
