Chongqing—On November 8, details were announced for the 2025 Chang'an Chongqing Marathon, which will be held on March 2 at Haitang Yinyu Park on Nanbin Road.
The event will feature two races: a 42.195-kilometer full marathon with 25,000 participants and a 5-kilometer mini-run with 10,000 participants, totaling 35,000 runners. The course begins at Haitang Yinyu Park. The full marathon route crosses landmarks such as Chaotianmen Bridge and Yangtze River Bridge before looping back, while the mini-run ends under Chaotianmen Bridge. Along the scenic route, runners will experience Chongqing's vibrant cityscape and rich cultural heritage.
Du Xueyong, deputy director of the Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau, highlighted four key upgrades to enhance the event’s quality and appeal. Notably, the 2025 marathon medal design will feature unique elements of "Night Rain in Fotu," one of the 12 iconic Bayu Scenes, blending the marathon's dynamic spirit with traditional Chinese and Chongqing cultural elements and marking the upcoming Year of the Snake in the Chinese Zodiac.
Continuing the integrated operation mode of "race, meeting, exhibition, and festival," the event will also hold the 3rd Chongqing Marathon International Consumption Festival, the Chengdu-Chongqing Sports Industry Alliance Forum, the "China Marathon Grand Slam Group Gathering," the "Chongqing Marathon Night" and a CPR+AED training program with the theme of "Protect Life, Save Life."
In 2025, the marathon will expand its use of smart technology to include an intelligent command system that visualizes race data and tracks video in real-time. In addition, the First Aid Intelligent Management System will support the on-demand scheduling of medical resources and the establishment of a responsive medical emergency system to ensure the safety of runners.
Finally, the marathon will boost international promotion by partnering with high-profile events like the Bangkok Marathon, amplifying the Chongqing Marathon brand, and showcasing the image of Chongqing globally.
