Chongqing - The 18th Chongqing Three Gorges (Wushan) International Red Leaf Festival and the 6th Wushan Goddess Cup Art Film Week will kick off on November 16 at Hongye Square in Chongqing's Wushan County, according to a press conference on November 11.

Guan Hong, Executive Deputy Director of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee Publicity Department, introduced that the Goddess Cup Art Film Week is China's only film festival dedicated to art films. It is now entering its sixth year. "Wushan aims to use the event to enhance the "film plus culture and tourism" model, strengthen Chongqing's cultural brand, and foster a greater cultural presence for China in the art film arena. The festival continues to build cultural bridges while promoting the Three Gorges heritage.

The 2024 festival features an expanded program, including an art film showcase, the riverside concert "Red Leaves in Full Bloom," free public screenings, panel discussions, a film tourism initiative, artist excursions, and a closing gala. Audiences will also be able to interact live with filmmakers and hear the stories behind each production.

A highlight of this year's festival, "Follow the Film to Tour," invites visitors to explore scenic Chongqing through theme-based routes. Guests can join celebrities in promoting Wushan's famous red leaves and the stunning Three Gorges scenery.

Reflecting on the festival's journey, Guan highlighted that the Goddess Cup has received nearly 900 submissions, awarded 50 top films, and honored outstanding artists and directors. With over 2,600 screenings, the festival has attracted more than 300,000 viewers.

Meanwhile, the annual Red Leaf Festival will introduce a new "cultural IP plus tourism" model to celebrate Wushan's 1.2 million acres of red leaves. Key events include the "Three Gorges 100" trail race, the international university student hiking invitational, a Chongqing citrus trade event, the "Wushan Grilled Fish Feast," and cultural and tourism innovation forums, totaling ten major activities.

New attractions this year include low-altitude tourism products like water planes and passenger drones, offering thrilling views of the Three Gorges. Visitors can also hike the stunning Three Gorges Ridge Trail to get up close to the vast sea of red leaves.

With expanded connectivity through new air routes and 43 daily train stops, Wushan now offers easy access to Chongqing's most scenic routes. Fu Jiakang, the county head, warmly invited visitors to experience the region's natural beauty, vibrant culture, and hospitality, saying, "Come and enjoy the red leaves, films, grilled fish, and Wushan's 'Liancheng' oranges this season."
