Chongqing—On November 12, the China-ASEAN Cross-Border Regular Lorry Logistics Alliance was established in Southwest China's Chongqing. Representatives from business associations and companies from ASEAN countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam, enthusiastically responded to joining the new alliance.
The establishment of the alliance was a key part of the 2024 China (Chongqing) - ASEAN Logistics Industry Cooperation Conference, where both Chinese and foreign government and business representatives engaged in in-depth discussions on building a new open development framework through land-sea connectivity.
The alliance enhances cross-border transport capacity, diversifies transportation routes, and strengthens regional cooperation, facilitating resource sharing and greater connectivity. Moving forward, the alliance will build a cross-border information exchange platform, offering digital services such as cargo tracking, order management, and transportation scheduling. This will provide a one-stop logistics solution for members, improving cross-border logistics efficiency. The alliance will also encourage collaboration among its members to ensure smooth and efficient logistics services.
At the conference, eight key "Hub + Channel + Industry" collaborative projects were signed, further promoting international freight forwarding, agricultural product trade, supply chain services, and second-hand car exports between Chongqing and ASEAN countries.
For example, under the "Chongqing Commercial Service-oriented National Logistics Hub and Laos Savan Park Special Economic Zone and Economy Cooperation Project" agreement, the Chongqing Highway Logistics Base will collaborate with Laos' Savan Park Special Economic Zone to unify logistics standards, simplify trade processes, and accelerate customs clearance. The cooperation aims to deepen collaboration in advanced manufacturing, modern services, and the logistics industry while also exploring the development of a cross-border logistics information platform and a logistics talent training program. This initiative will facilitate smoother and more efficient communication and cooperation across trade, investment, logistics, and services between the two regions.
The "China (Chongqing)—ASEAN Logistics Industry Cooperation Base" was inaugurated in Ba'nan District, Chongqing, in December 2023 to support further cross-border logistics and supply chain integration. Nearly a year into operation, the base has established a transport channel system comprising "3 directions, 11 lines, 24 ports, and 37 overseas distribution warehouses," linking logistics industries in Chongqing and ASEAN countries.
