Chongqing - From November 15 to 17, Chongqing will host an exciting lineup of cultural and tourism events in the Dazu District. These include the 2024 Chongqing Culture and Tourism Consumer Carnival, the Chongqing Tourism Development Exhibition, the "360 Bowls of Chongqing Flavors" Food Market, and the Bayu Intangible Cultural Heritage Creative Market.
Alongside these events, Chongqing will also host the 41st Premium Project Exchange and Matchmaking Event, and the Chongqing Key Cultural and Tourism Industry Projects Promotion.
The highlight of the event, the Chongqing Culture and Tourism Consumer Carnival, will take place at Xiangguo Park in Dazu. The opening ceremony on November 15 will feature eight live performances, including the folk dance "Carp Leaping over the Dragon Gate," a selection from the red stage drama "1949," and traditional Sichuan opera like "The Hands of a Thousand Buddhas." These performances will blend Chongqing's cultural heritage with modern tourism, celebrating its rich red culture, Three Gorges heritage, and ethnic traditions.
The Chongqing Tourism Development Exhibition will focus on two main areas: showcasing the city’s tourism achievements since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and an immersive exhibit highlighting five key themes—resource protection, product supply, industry development, brand promotion, and environmental management. Visitors can explore themed zones like "World Scenic City," "Magnificent Three Gorges," and "Vibrant Wuling Mountain."
In Dazu’s Changzhou Ancient Town, the "360 Bowls of Chongqing Flavors" Food Market will offer local specialties, cured meats, street food, spicy dishes, and more.
The Bayu Intangible Cultural Heritage Creative Market, with the theme "Ancient Charm of Bayu," will showcase over 5,000 items from 68 local intangible cultural heritage projects. Visitors can participate in interactive displays, enjoy heritage performances, and explore traditional crafts.
In addition to the main events, over 100 other cultural and tourism activities will be held across Chongqing throughout November, including the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin City Street Life Art Season, the 9th Chongqing Cultural Tourism Consumer Season (Jiangbei Branch), the Yongchuan District Food Culture Festival, and the Sports Tourism and Leisure Consumption Season in Yunyang.
Ductions across Chongqing are offering special discounts and packages to further stimulate tourism. For example, Qianjiang District is providing ticket discounts for locals, social media influencers, and airline tourists, while Zhongxian has launched a "One Ticket for All" package, offering entry to multiple scenic spots at a reduced price.
According to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, this series of events is a cultural celebration and a festive shopping experience, allowing visitors to enjoy both cultural charm and the excitement of shopping.
