Chongqing - The German Advanced Manufacturing Enterprises' Chongqing Industrial Cooperation Conference opened on November 12 in Chongqing, drawing over 200 German and 500 Chinese representatives for discussions and exchanges.
During the conference, Wang Zhijie, Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, presented a list of industrial high-quality development opportunities and scenario-based opportunities in Chongqing.
The industrial development opportunities list highlights 238 investment projects in Chongqing, totaling nearly 630 billion yuan (about 87.13 billion USD). These projects include 185 in modern industrial clusters, 23 in technological innovation, 10 in inland development, and 20 in modern services.
The opportunities list outlines four development areas: industrial growth, urban governance, technology, and social welfare. It includes 145 scenarios aimed at helping businesses enhance their technologies, products, and services in Chongqing.
During the event, 12 major cooperation projects were signed, with a total investment of 8.765 billion yuan. Notably, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and Siemens Ltd., China.
Moreover, the second phase of the SW machine tool project will be located in Chongqing's Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Yongchuan District. The project will focus on producing critical machine tool components, including spindles, automatic tool magazines, and machine beds, with plans to export to Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia.
"Such activities provide an excellent opportunity to understand each other's strengths and needs better, helping us identify more cooperation opportunities," said Eric Bi, President and Board Member of Knorr-Bremse Rail Vehicle Systems China. He added that the company is exploring partnerships with local Chongqing businesses in areas such as rail transportation technology, intelligent manufacturing, and green energy.
Hu Jinghai, President of Rail and Marine Voith Turbo China, also expressed optimism about the future of Chongqing's manufacturing sector. "As a major city in western China, Chongqing boasts clear capacity and regional advantages and will serve as a key hub for companies looking to develop the western Chinese market," Hu said.
