Chongqing- The first all-English international broadcast program in Chongqing, the 53rd episode of "Let's Meet," produced by the Western China International Communication Organization, will be aired on Chongqing Satellite TV on November 9.
In today’s episode, we welcome a new guest: Lizzy from South Africa. Five years ago, she came to China from Phalaborwa and became an English teacher. She now resides in Kunming. Recently, she visited Chongqing to experience the city’s unique infrastructure, culinary culture, and local customs.
In her free time, Lizzy is also a well-known video blogger. She has published hundreds of videos documenting her life in China on platforms such as Douyin and YouTube, accumulating over 10 million views.Lizzy's journey in Chongqing began at the Tongyuanju viewing platform. From there, she looked down on the Yangtze River winding through Sujiaba Interchange, feeling the city's pulse. She experienced Chongqing’s rail transit firsthand and was amazed by its complexity and the convenience and comfort it offered. The Crown Escalator, Jiefangbei, Huangjuewan Interchange—all these places marked her journey, allowing her to deeply appreciate Chongqing’s unique infrastructure development.
Alex, the host of Let's Meet, invited Lizzy to take a “Citywalk” in the bustling Jiefangbei area. As they strolled through the city center, they reflected on Jiefangbei's transformations and marveled at Chongqing’s rapid development over the past decades. They also discussed Chongqing’s role as a crucial hub in the Belt and Road Initiative and as the starting point of the China-Europe Railway Express, emphasizing its significance in regional economic growth.
At the end of her Chongqing journey, Lizzy gave an exclusive interview for Let's Meet. She shared the motivation behind her video production—to show the truth of China to the world and attract more people to come to China. She spoke about how living in China has made her feel safe and comfortable, providing her with many unique opportunities, and how she now considers it her home. Lizzy also mentioned that China is like a “mentor” to South Africa, offering significant assistance in infrastructure development, and she looks forward to even closer relations between the two countries.
