Chongqing - From November 22 to 24, the world’s top figure skaters will grace Chongqing’s Banan district, bringing an electrifying competition to the Huaxi LIVE·Yudong venue.
As the fourth installment of the prestigious ISU Grand Prix series in Chongqing, this event cements the city’s status as a global hub for figure skating. Featuring renowned international athletes, the Cup of China promises a dazzling blend of athletic prowess and artistic elegance on the ice.
Dubbed “ballet on ice,” figure skating captivates audiences with its graceful movements set to music, blending technical skill with artistic expression. Since its inception in 2003, the Cup of China has become a highlight of the ISU Grand Prix series and a centerpiece of China’s winter sports calendar. This marks the third consecutive year Chongqing will host the competition, reinforcing its role in advancing winter sports in Southwest China.
The ISU Grand Prix series comprises six competitions culminating in a grand finale. The 2023 season began in October in the United States and will conclude in Chongqing, where elite skaters from around the world, including European and Four Continents champions and World Championship medalists, will compete. China’s own stars, such as Jin Boyang, An Xiangyi, and Chen Hongyi, will join the action, adding extra excitement to the event.
Over three days, 60 athletes from 15 countries and regions will compete in men’s and women’s singles, pairs skating, and ice dance. The competition peaks on November 22 and 23 with the awarding of final medals. On November 24, a special exhibition gala will showcase the skaters’ creativity and flair in a relaxed, non-competitive setting, offering fans a memorable and unique conclusion to the event.
The Huaxi LIVE·Yudong venue in Banan is a cutting-edge facility with seating for 16,000 spectators. Known for hosting high-profile events like the WTT Champions Tournament earlier this year, the venue has been upgraded to enhance the spectator experience. Improvements include state-of-the-art display systems for sharper visuals and optimized seating arrangements, bringing audiences closer to the action and ensuring an immersive, front-row feel.
The 2024 Cup of China is set to deliver an unforgettable spectacle, combining world-class sports with awe-inspiring performances in a premier venue. Don’t miss your chance to witness this extraordinary ice show in Chongqing!
