Chongqing - The 2024 Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance Exchange Activity is set to take place in Chongqing from November 25 to 30.
Under the theme "Lancang-Mekong Rivers, Enduring Ties," this highly anticipated event will bring together tourism authorities from the six Lancang-Mekong countries, representatives from embassies and consulates of the five Mekong nations, nearly 50 alliance member units, as well as delegates from international organizations and tourism-related enterprises.
One of the event's key highlights will be the unveiling of the Lancang-Mekong Media Tourism Promotion Initiative. This initiative seeks to leverage media platforms to showcase the region's breathtaking natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and distinctive local traditions. By tapping into international markets, the initiative aims to boost global recognition and attract more visitors to the Lancang-Mekong region.
In addition to policy discussions and networking sessions, attendees will participate in tourism showcases and on-site visits, offering an opportunity to experience Chongqing's unique charm firsthand. This dynamic lineup of activities aims to deepen collaboration, encourage resource sharing, and advance regional tourism integration.
In recent years, Chongqing has emerged as a key player in fostering tourism exchanges with Mekong countries. As one of the first Chinese cities to join the alliance, Chongqing has hosted notable events such as the Lancang-Mekong Mayors' Forum and advanced training programs for cross-border tourism cooperation. These efforts have solidified its role in promoting tourism ties across the region.
The Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance, guided by the motto "Tourism for a Better Lancang-Mekong Community," has significantly promoted collaboration. This year's exchange activity aims to institutionalize the alliance further and strengthen its impact, fostering sustainable growth in the tourism sector.
The event promises to be a landmark moment for regional tourism cooperation, unveiling new opportunities and a shared vision for the future of the Lancang-Mekong community.
