Chongqing - The 2024 Belt and Road Media Community Summit Forum opened in Chongqing Wednesday, gathering 160 representatives from media organizations, experts, and scholars across 30 countries and regions. The event aimed to strengthen global cooperation in the film and television industry.
During the forum, the Declaration on Jointly Building and Sharing the Belt and Road Media Community Media Technology Innovation Ecosystem and the Annual Report on the Work of the Belt and Road Media Community were presented.
In his remarks, Ahmed Nadeem, Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), emphasized that ABU is committed to integrating innovative technologies and collaborative approaches. He pledged to work closely with the Belt and Road Media Community and its partners on key issues such as climate change and social cohesion while continuously improving media credibility.
Adbelrahim Suleiman, Director General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union, delivered a keynote speech highlighting the shared principles and values that form the foundation of the Belt and Road Media Community. He stressed the importance of adapting to technological advancements and the digital transformation of the media sector.
In addition, a series of international cooperation agreements were signed during the event, including the documentary When the Yangtze Meets the Nile, a collaboration between the Fuling District Committee of Chongqing, the Western China International Communication Organization, and Nile News of Egyptian Television.
Moreover, the forum hosted the "Breeze from Chongqing" International Cooperation Promotion Event, showcasing Western China's Melody and the Western Audiovisual Translation and Export Center projects.
Abner Chen, Vice General Manager of K1 Cooperation Department of Tencent Interactive Entertainment Group and Executive Producer of the Cross Fire series, also introduced a new video game inspired by Chongqing's unique cultural characteristics.
Currently, the Belt and Road Media Community comprises 148 mainstream media outlets and institutions across 64 countries and regions. It combines resources from film and television production, broadcasting, dubbing, industry, integrated communication, and think tanks, offering a broad platform for international media cooperation and injecting fresh momentum into deepening mutually beneficial collaboration among global media organizations.
