Chongqing - The 2024 Chongqing International Travel Agent Conference kicked off on Tuesday and has attracted global travel agents to explore Southwest China's Chongqing.
"We are here to see a new market in Chongqing," said Rima Samara, general manager of Samara Travel in Jordan.
He explained that people in his country are interested in visiting China, and many of his customers are looking to establish new business relationships with agencies here.
For Mulyono Wiek, general manager of FM Tours and Travel in Indonesia, Chongqing is a city built on hills, a rare sight in other places. He looked forward to sharing more about this unique city with his customers when he returned to Indonesia.
Both Wiek and Samara expressed their hope that Chongqing could increase its promotional efforts and provide more details to the world.
Wiek also suggested that more cultural exhibitions could help attract more tourists to the city.
Eddy Efendy, the owner of an agency specializing in travel consulting and event management, is also from Indonesia. He credited the charter flights with boosting Chongqing's popularity in the Indonesian market. According to him, there are three charter flights from Jakarta to Chongqing weekly.
He also pointed out that Chongqing's unique architecture, geography, and demographics have sparked Indonesian interest in visiting the city.
Efendy suggested that Chongqing could introduce a special tourist ticket for using transportation, for instance.
"Because the new tourists coming here don't know about the language and Information, if you have a ticket for tourists, it is more convenient for them to explore the city," he added.
